BRIDGE FOSTER CARE

AAAA bridge foster care takes a child-centered approach to temporary and long-term care of children in crisis.  The program challenges foster parents to make an ongoing commitment to the child.  With the guidance and support of trained resource workers, we ask foster parents to:

  • Work to reunify the child with the birth family if possible and appropriate;
  • Consider serving as a permanent adoptive resource should reunification not be possible;
  • Work to prepare the child for adoption with another family and facilitate a smooth transition where necessary;
  • Commit to acting as a long-term mentor and resource to the children after they leave the home or turn 18 if long-term foster care is granted.
AAAA puts the child's stability first.  This requires foster parents to act as a loving and secure 'bridge' no matter how the child's life changes.

You can be an AAAA bridge foster parent if you are single or have been married at least one year; are at least 21 years old; have other children or have never parented before; rent or own your own home.

Above all you must be called to helping promote permanency for children no matter how challenging their personalities or resistances.
