ADOPTIVE FAMILY SUPPORT
AAAA knows adoptive families grow and change in different ways. Many times love is not enough to overcome deep emotional pain, challenging behaviors or increasing medical needs. Adoptive families need the support of other adoptive families, community resources and professionals.
To help ensure stability for adoptive families, AAAA offers the following support.
- Adoption assistance - Limited finances and medical insurance are available for families that adopt Waiting Children;
- One-on-one personal support - Each adoptive family is provided a trained resource worker who returns phone calls, responds to concerns and helps to overcome challenges for 12 months after the adoption is finalized and periodically thereafter;
- Support and Nurture Adoptive Parents (SNAP) groups - SNAP support groups connect adoptive parents to provide practical resources and empathetic listening;
- Teen Talk Time - AAAA arranges support groups for teens who are working through adolescence as adopted children;
- Referrals & networking - Sometimes adoptive families need intervention, mediation or therapeutic counseling. AAAA is connected to a qualified team of professionals. Contact us for assistance in this area;
- Respite care - Resources are available so that adoptive parents can have a break while other responsible adults care for the adopted children.
AAAA's support services are tailored to meet the immediate needs of families. If you are an AAAA adoptive family in need of support, please contact us.
