AAAA knows families grow and change over time.  Therefore, our services do not end at placement or finalization.

The AAAA meets the needs of its families by providing a number of post adoptive services.  We work with families to identify specific needs and create tailored solutions.

  • Family netWorks
    is AAAA's support platform; it uses group sessions and practical resources to ensure families have the tools they need to succeed.  Family netWorks also offers encouragement through special events such as the annual holiday party.

  • The Lecture Series
    with a primary emphasis on the needs of African American children, the Lecture Series is designed to address specific diagnosis of children, questions of child development, and other issues related to the formation of an adoptive family, including families where relative children are being adopted. Whether the issue is learning to adjust to new family relationships after a relative adoption; or specific questions about the specific behavior of your child in your home, this lecture series is an oportunity for information specifically designed to fit your needs. This approach is not common, so don't miss your chance for a breakthrough! Upcoming Lecture Series dates are below:

    2008 Lecture Series

  • RESCHEDULED DATE!Saturday, September 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
    "Black Hair and Skin Care"

    Don't miss this opportunity to learn from a "hair instructor" about hair and skin care for African Americans. Parents will be taught how to care for, groom, and manage their children's hair. Learn the basics; washing techniques, hair braiding, how to properly care for different types of hair and cleansing & moisturizing different skin types. Facilitated by Denise Martin, Licensed Executive Stylist; 20+ years of experience

    The Lecture Series is held at the AAAA office and is free to those with placement or adoption of a Minnesota Waiting Child. Fee Schedule for all others is as follows:

  • $20 per session or pick any three sessions for $50

  • $35 for Saturday sessions or the complete series of six sessions $120
